Indian Festival – Ganesh Chaturthi 2020

Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival in honor of the birth of the beloved Hindu elephant-headed god, Lord Ganesha. It is also very popular as Vinayaka Chaturthi.

He is the son of Lord Shiva and goddess Devi Parvati. This festival extends up to 11days of grand celebration and its last day is Anant Chaturdashi or Ganesh Visarjan which falls on 1st September 2020.

Ganesh Chaturthi will Celebrate this year on 22nd August 2020 and Anant Chaturdashi is on 1st September 2020.

Lord Ganesha was conceived and this day is set his birthday consistently. The Bhadra month as per the Hindi Calendar (mid-of-August or September).

Lord Ganesha is known by 108 unique names and is the Lord of expressions and sciences and the Deva of shrewdness. He is regarded toward the beginning of customs and services as he’s viewed as the God of beginnings.

According to the scriptures, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha out of dirt off her body while having a bath and set him to guard her door while she finishes her bath.

Lord Shiva who had gone out, returned from his penance/meditation at that time, but as Ganesha didn’t know of him & stopped him from entering.

An angry Lord Shiva severed the head of Lord Ganesha after a combat between the two. Devi Parvati was incensed and Lord Shiva guaranteed Ganesha will live once again.

All the devas who also went in search of a head facing north of a dead person could manage only the head of an elephant.

Shiva fixed the elephant’s head on the child and breathed life into him back. With an elephant’s head, a large belly, and four hands, Lord Ganesha appears different and unique from any other deity.

He is the perennial child who is the seeker of knowledge & wisdom, and the epitome of devotion towards his parents. That is the reason most of the kids like Lord Ganapathi.

Historical records reveal that Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations were initiated firstly in Pune by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaja, the great Maratha ruler, to promote culture and nationalism (since 1930-1980).

And later on, It was Lokmanya Tilak, who brought back the tradition of Ganesh Chaturthi and re-shaped the annual Ganesh festival from private family celebrations into a grand public event.

As per the Hindu Mythology Lord Ganesh is considering as “Vighna Harta” the one who removes obstacles and “Buddhi Pradaayaka” the one who grants intelligence.

The festival is popular as the Birthday of Lord Ganesha and It is well-known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav.

The very last day of the Ganesh Visarjan the most exciting of all, the devotees gather around Lord Ganesha’s idol in large numbers to worship & pray for the last time as the idol is carried away to be immersed in water.

It mainly involves the worshipping of an idol of Lord Ganesha in a Temple or Pandal and at the end of the festival, the idol is immersing in water, in a process celebrating as Ganesh Visarjan.

The Ganesh Visarjan process is a heavy-hearted one as it means adieu (bye-bye) to Lord Ganesha and wishing that he continues to shower on people his love and blessings and returns soon next year.

Colorful and musical processions for the idol Ganesha Visarjan take place amidst clamor and chants like “Ganpati Bappa Moriya, Pudhchya varshi lavvkar yah “(come back soon next year o my lord).

Worshipers offer Modaks, Jaggery, Coconut, Red Hibiscus Flowers and other offerings to the idol of Lord Ganesha.

During the ceremony devotees also chant hymns and perform aartis in the morning and evenings along with their family and friends.

every pandal (stage) is attractive and has its own theme for decoration; some take inspiration from social issues, some give us visual delights of mythology stories and some even give a glimpse of the future.

The detailing of the decorations, the art and craftsmanship are impressive and laudatory. Ganesh Chaturthi is a celebration that falls on Chathurthi tithi of Avani or Shravana month.

This celebration was first begun in Maharashtra and later spread all finished India. This celebration is commending for Ganapathi.

Prior to one day of celebration or on the morning of the celebration clean your home altogether; and wipe the floor. Scrub down, wear spotless or new garments, in a steel/silver plate fill rice and go to market.

Buy a Mudden or earth Ganesha(Don’t purchase Plaster of Paris- Let us keep the earth clean); place him in the plate and convey him to your home.

See to that Ganesha Murthy is free of everything being equal; and the storage compartment ought to be towards the right side. First, attract a Rangoli in front of your home and tie blooms/mango goes out.

Place a table and on that either take a plantain leaf or another steel plate/silver plate fill rice over it; place a wooden board or simply put the Ganesha Vigraham on that rice spread plantain leaf.
